Archaeological civic museum of Palazzo Pianetti

The eighteenth-century Palazzo Pianetti, home of the Pinacoteca Civica (the civic art gallery) since 1981, is famous for the Galleria degli Stucchi, located on the first floor of the Palazzo, which is one of the greatest examples of rococo in central Italy. Inside the stables of the palace the Archaeological Museum has recently been inaugurated. Organized in chronological order, it presents the history of the Jesi territory in three sections: first, the prehistoric age, then the protohistoric age, where one can see the Picene finds from the sites of Monteroberto and Castelbellino, and finally the Roman age, which holds the important testimonies of Jesi ceramics production from the kiln of Campo Boario and from the statuary cycle of the Julio-Claudian age.
